Katherine “Kati” White Simmons Paul

Katherine “Kati” White Simmons Paul, 81, of Dillon, South Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
Kati was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Charlie and Flora Simmons on August 12, 1938. On September 9, 1981, she was married to the late George Lewis Paul “Bull”. A graduate of Anderson University, she was employed with Dillon County Department of Social Services as a social worker and alcohol/drug abuse counselor for 28 years. She was actively involved in McLeod’s Ladies Auxiliary, acted as a Board Member for the Council on Aging, and was a longtime member of East Dillon Baptist Church.
Always up for an adventure, Kati loved to travel and was nicknamed “Inquisitive Kati” by her loved ones. She was a passionate writer; authoring short stories, poetry and songs. Some of her favorite pastimes included attending gospel singings and daily breakfast with her friends. She was the family historian, always traveling with a camera – sometimes taking a day’s worth of pictures before realizing there was no film or batteries. Her family adored her for her sense of humor and her ability to laugh at herself. She was an active prayer warrior during life’s storms and available to offer a listening ear.
Kati was a mother, sister and grandmother to many. She was also a devout Christian, her heart was always open to anyone. You could count on her to show up with a silly, singing stuffed animal and she always had the best ice cream in the freezer.
Kati is survived by her children, Kenneth Edward Love II (Cynthia) of Lugoff, South Carolina, Karen Christian Love, Kimberly Ann Love, Daniel Caulder, all of Dillon, South Carolina; brothers, Charles Franklin Simmons Jr. of Stony Point, N.C., Henry Cunningham Simmons (Genelle) of Rock Hill, S.C., and sister, Lynne Marie Simmons, of Greer, S.C. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and her fur baby, Cuddles. Kati is predeceased by her sister, Flora Simmons Trotter, and stepsons, Cliff Williams and Wayne Caulder.
The family will have a private graveside service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery with a public memorial service held at a later date.
The family of Katherine Paul wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all medical staff, EMS, hospice, family and friends for the care, love and kindness shown throughout the years and, specifically this past year. We will always remember and appreciate it. The best way for us to honor “Kati” is to carry her legacy forward and to teach our children to do the same.
Due to COVID-19 and the CDC regulations, social distancing is required, and the maximum of 10 people are allowed to attend the service.
Memorials may be made to East Dillon Baptist Church, 702 South 16th Avenue, Dillon, SC 29536
