Miriam Kinon Lecholop Sanders

DANIEL ISLAND, SC – Miriam Kinon Lecholop Sanders, 93, of Dillon, SC, died peacefully February 23, 2020. Funeral services will be held February 29, 2020, 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 400 N. 4th Ave, Dillon, S.C. Visitation will be held one hour before the service with burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Kannaday Funeral Home.

Miriam was born in Dillon, SC on May 10, 1926. She was the eldest daughter of Sam C. Kinon and Marian H. Kinon. She was the widow of Michael S. Lecholop and Dr. Carl Sanders, Jr. She was preceded in death by her brother, Judge Marion H. “Son” Kinon, sister-in law, Reba B. Kinon, sisters, Carolyn E. Kinon and Sara H. Crowly. She is survived by her children, Michael S. Lecholop (Ann) of Charleston, SC and Colonel (Ret) Stephen K. Lecholop (Carol) of San Antonio, TX; and grandchildren, Allison Bodiford (Barry) of Daniel Island, SC, Dr. M. Kinon Lecholop (Megan) of Charleston, SC, Stephen K. Lecholop II, JD (Christina) of San Antonio, TX and Timothy R. Lecholop (Joanna) of Providence, RI. Great grandchildren include Grayson Bodiford, Hayden Bodiford, Grace Lecholop, Colton Lecholop, Caroline Lecholop and Reade Lecholop. Stepson is Gary T. Sanders (Nancy) of Dillon, SC. Grandchildren are Angela Evans (Andy) of Columbia, SC, Gary Tod Sanders (Brittany) of Evergreen, SC and Kelly S. Johnson (Tyler) of Newberry, SC. Great grandchildren are Ellie Johnson, Emma Faith Johnson, Asher Sanders, Eli Sanders, Abby Evans, Max Evans and Noah Evans.
She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church for 90 years until her move to Mt Pleasant, SC. She loved her church family and was active through the years where she served on many committees and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a former member of Virginia Bowman’s Sunday School Class. She will be remembered best for her servant’s heart and her sweet smile.
Active in community and civic activities, she served on the Advisory Board of McLeod Dillon Medical Center, volunteer with the McLeod Auxiliary, and member of the Junior Charity League, Pilot Club, Camilla Garden Club, Dillon Literary Book Club, Dillon County Country Club, and the Cotillion Club of Dillon. She also served several years as a Cub Scout Den Leader. In addition, Mrs. Sanders was Property Manager and Real Estate Broker for the Kinon Estate for over 65 years.
To know her was to love her. Her zest for life was fully appreciated by family and friends.
