The Lake View Wild Gators returned home from Marion on Friday, September 20, having suffered a 28-12 loss to the Marion Swamp Foxes in Marion.
The Wild Gators had played the Dillon Wildcats on Monday in the same week.
The Swamp Foxes got on the scoreboard with 2:00 minutes remaining in the first quarter when Marion’s #3 broke several tackles and carried the football in from 46 yards out. The PAT by #84 was good, and Marion was up 7-0.
After Lake View received the kick-off, Adarrian Dawkins rushed for 29 yards on the first play but was unable to muster any consistency.
Each team would make good runs and good defensive plays until Marion got on the scoreboard when Marion’s #3 once-again hit pay dirt on a 17-yard run after a fumble recovery. Marion’s #84’s PAT was good with 3:13 remaining in the first half.
On the Marion kick-off, Lake View’s Ja’Correus Ford returned the kick-off for a touchdown. Lake View’s 2-point conversion attempt failed.
At halftime, the Lake View team found themselves down 14-6.
The Marion Swamp Foxes got on the scoreboard with 1:37 remaining in the third quarter as once again Marion’s #3 scored from the 8-yard line. Marion’s #84’s PAT was good.
With 10:18 remaining in the fourth quarter, Lake View’s Dylan Bullock scooped up a bad snap and carried it into the end zone for 6 points. The 2-point conversion attempt failed.
In the closing moments of the game, Marion scored the final touchdown and added the final PAT to claim the 28-12 win.
Lake View will host Lamar on Friday, September 27, at 7:30 p.m.
