West Florence JV Picks Up Softball Win Over Latta

West Florence picked up an 11-6 win over the Latta Vikings in junior varsity softball action played on Thursday, March 28, in Florence.
Each team placed 2 runs on the scoreboard in the first inning.
West Florence managed to get 6 runs across home plate in the bottom of the second inning. Huggins singled that scored a run. Another run scored on an error. Miles singled scoring a run, and Moore doubled scoring 2 runs.
The Vikings fought back scoring 2 runs in the top of the fourth and a run in the top of the fifth before West Florence sent 3 runs across home plate in the bottom of the sixth inning. Latta managed another run in the top of the seventh inning.
West Florence managed 7 hits in the game while holding Latta to 5 hits.
West Florence’s K. Miller had a double, 2 rbi, and scored 2 runs in her 4 at-bats. E. Huggins had a single, a walk, a rbi, and scored 2 runs in her 3 plate appearances. L. Moore had a double and 2 rbi in her 3 at-bats. K. Driggers had a single. B. Miles had a single, a rbi, and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. S. Clark had a single and scored 3 runs in her 4 at-bats. J. Perry had a single and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. M. Strickland scored a run in her 1 at-bat. M. DuBose scored a run in her 3 at-bats.
Latta’s Ava Rogers had 2 singles and a rbi in her 3 at-bats. Elizabeth Brown had a home run, a rbi, and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. Taryn Weatherford had 2 singles and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. Blake Hatchell had a rbi in her 4 at-bats. Abigail Cooper had 3 walks and scored a run in her 4 plate appearances. Ragan Bethea had a walk and scored a run in her 4 plate appearances.
Jordan Perritt had a walk in her 4 plate appearances. Averi Lovell and Caroline Anderson each scored a run.
K. Miller picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings, allowed 5 hits, walked 5, allowed 6 runs of which 1 was earned, and struck out 4.
Jordan Perritt was charged with the loss for Latta. She pitched 4 innings and allowed 3 runs of which none were earned, allowed 1 hit, walked 1, and struck out 9. Ava Rogers started the game. She pitched 2 innings and allowed 6 hits, walked no one, allowed 8 runs of which 1 was earned, and struck out 2.
Latta will host Andrews today (Tuesday, April 2) at 6:00 p.m.
