Each year the Dillon American Legion, Post 0032, holds a dinner to honor the boys who had attended the Palmetto Boys State program at Anderson University for a week the previous June. This year the dinner was held on Thursday evening, February 7th at 7:00 p.m.

The boys who attended were Damien K. Bryant and Fitzhugh L. Bethea from Latta High School, Fitzhugh L. Bethea is not in the picture. James C. Carroll, Isaiah A. Richards and Deonte’ J. Godfray, from Dillon High School. Deonte’ J. Godfray is not in the picture. Ryan T. Stephens from Dillon Christian School. The School’s Counselors and the boy’s family are invited to attend the celebration. Each of these young men were presented with a certificate of Participation for attending the Boys State Program.
The Boys State Program helps the boys learn about our government about their week at Anderson University. One question was, do any of you want to run for a public office one day? At this point there wasn’t anyone interested But time does change our interest and these young men could one day become a popular name in the political scene in South Carolina. All of the boys stated that they were happy that they were chosen to get the attend boys State and that they would recommend this program to all other boys and they thanked the American Legion for providing this opportunity for them.
