The Dillon Wildcats picked up a hard-fought, must win game over the visiting Cheraw Braves on Friday, February 1, in Dillon.
Dillon controlled the tip-off and managed to take an early lead. However, Cheraw fought back and by the end of the first period of play Cheraw was up by 3 points, 13-10, while only 3 fouls were committed by Dillon and none by Cheraw. Cheraw managed a lead in the second period of play but Dillon closed that gap to only 1 point at halftime, 32-31. After 3 periods of play, Cheraw had a 2-point lead, 49-47. Dillon quickly knotted the score at 49. Each team either tied or took a slim lead in the fourth period of play. With 4:58 remaining in the final period, Dillon managed a 7-point lead, 58-51. With 2:15remaining in the game, Dillon’s lead was 6 points, 65-59. With only 35 seconds remaining in the game, Dillon led 70-61.
Dillon will host Loris today, Tuesday, February 5.

The Dillon Junior Varsity Boys held on to hand the visiting Cheraw Braves a 35-33 loss in Dillon on Friday, February 1.
Cheraw closed the gap near the end of the game.
With only 46 seconds remaining in the game, Dillon’s #5 was at the charity line with 2 opportunities but failed to connect. Cheraw’s #10 drove to the basket and shot but was fouled. He managed to sink one free throw. With 11 seconds on the clock, Dillon’s #5 was once again at the charity line. With only 3 seconds in the game, Cheraw’s #50 managed to get near the basket but before he put up his shot, the time expired, and Dillon held on to claim the 35-33 win.

The Dillon Lady Wildcats handed the Lake View Lady Wild Gators a 50-35 loss at Lake View on Wednesday, January 30.
The Lady ‘Cats never trailed in the game as they outscored the Lady Gators 14-7 in the first quarter. By halftime, Dillon led 24-14. After 3 periods of play, Dillon was up 38-22.
Dillon’s Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon led Dillon in scoring with 15 points of which she connected on 5 free throws and sank five 2-point baskets. Jykya Bell connected with 2 free throws and sank six 2-point baskets. Chyna Pouncey added a 2-point basket, a 3-point basket and 2 free throws for 10 points. Meleah Carter a 3-point shot and a 2-point shot for 5 points. Shaniya Page and Andrianna Ervin each sank a free throw and a 2-point basket for 3 points each.
Lake View’s Ja’Niyah Waters led in scoring with a game-high 18 points as she sank 7 free throws and connected on four 2-point baskets and one 3-point basket. Janai Ford sank three 2-point baskets and 3 free throws for 9 points. Milashia Wheeler connected on a 3-point basket, and Zaiona Henbergh hit a free throw and a 2-point basket. Kasi Page also sank a 2-point basket.
Dillon committed a total of 18 fould in the game of which 10 fouls were in the first half.

The Dillon Wildcats returned home with an 82-72 hard-fought loss to in-county Lake View on Wednesday, January 30.
After the first period of play, Dillon was up by a 2-point margin, 14-12. At halftime, Lake View held a slim, 1-point lead,25-24. Dillon will host Loris today, Tuesday, February 5.

Dillon defeated the visiting Cheraw Lady Braves 70-15 on Friday, February 1, in Dillon.
Although Dillon’s Shantazia Gordon out-jumped her opponent, Cheraw managed to get the tip-off, but Dillon controlled the tempo of the game.
Dillon held a 22-2 lead after the first period of play. By halftime, the score was Dillon 46 and Cheraw 4. After 3 periods of play, Dillon was up 60-12.
Dillon’s Shatazia Gordon led all scorers with 19 points. She connected on nine 2-point baskets and one 3-point basket. Jykya Bell added 15 points for the Lady Wildcats, and Chyna Pouncey connected for 11 points while Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon added 9 points. Alyse Hines, Lacy Simmons, and Lucy Sellers each garnered 4 points. Maleah Carter and Shaniya Page each managed to place 2 points on the scoreboard. Cheraw’s C. Bryant led her team with 8 points, and A. Robertson connected for 5 points. B. Helms placed 2 points on the scoreboard.
In the first half Dillon committed 5 fouls while Cheraw only committed 1. In the second half Dillon committed 4 fouls while Cheraw committed 5.

The Latta Lady Vikings suffered a 51-45 loss to the visiting East Clarendon Lady Wolverines on Friday, February 1, in Latta.
East Clarendon jumped out to an 17-9 lead after the first period of play. By halftime, the Lady Wolverines increased the lead to 10 points, 25-15.
Latta outscored East Clarendon 19-6 in the third period of play to take a 3-point lead, 34-31.
However, in the fourth period of play, East Clarendon outscored Latta 20-11 to capture the win.
East Clarendon’s T. Cooper lead all scorers with 21 points. The Lady Wolverines’ Britni Anderson added 14 points while teammate Rhamey Floyd connected for 10 points. Destiny Dyer placed 6 points on the scoreboard.
Ri’Ana Green led the Lady Vikings with 15 points, and Moya McDuffie, KeDaisha Wheeler, and DeKhasia Green each connected for 8 points. Adaya Gordon added 4 points, and Rayne Nolan placed 2 points onto the scoreboard.
Latta committed 6 fouls in the first half and 6 fouls in the second half while East Clarendon committed 9 fouls in the first half and 6 fouls in the second half.
Latta will host Kingstree on Wednesday, February 6, for the final game before the playoffs.

The Latta Vikings picked up a 50-25 win over Hannah-Pamplico while visiting there on Monday, February 4.
Latta held a commanding 16-1 lead after the first period of play. Hannah-Pamplico scored 10 points to Latta’s 6 points in the second period to cut the lead to 13 at halftime. Latta increased the lead to 33-16 after 3 periods of play.
Latta’s Moya McDuffie led in scoring with 20 points of which five were 2-point baskets and 6 points came from the 3-point area plus 4 free throws. Ri’Ana Green connected for two 2-point baskets and two 3-point baskets for 10 points. Dadaisha Wheeler added 8 points, and Adaya Green sank two 3-point baskets and 2 free throws for 8 points. Rayne Nolan placed 6 points on the scoreboard. Adaya Gordon added 4 points, and DeKhasia Green added 2 points.
Maddy Boyle led Hannah-Pamplico with 7 points while Rachel Griffin connected for 5 points. Hailey Rodgers added 4 points, and Katelyn Turner placed 3 points on the scoreboard. Sarah Calcutt, Willania Peterson, and Hilary Williams each scored 2 points.
Latta committed 10 fouls in the first half and 8 fouls in the second half.
Hannah-Pamplico committed 7 fouls in the first half and 10 fouls in the second half.

he Dillon Lady Wildcats handed the visiting Loris Lady Lions a 48-39 loss in Dillon on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in varsity basketball action.
The Lady Wildcats held a 9-3 lead after the first period of play and was up 22-8 at halftime. By the end of the third period, Dillon led 33-17.
Dillon’s Jykya Bell led all scorers with 20 points of which she connected on five 2-point baskets, one 3-point shot, and 7 free throws. Shantazia Gordon added 11 points. She also hit five 2-point baskets and 1 free throw. Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon made five 2-point shots for 10 points. Maleah Carter connected for three 2-point baskets for 6 points. Shaniya Page also added a point on a free throw.
Dillon will travel to Marion on Thursday, Feb. 7, for the final regular season game.

The Dillon Middle School is hosting the Pee Dee Conference Tournament for play-off action for the B-team basketball squads.
In the first game of the afternoon, the Dillon Lady Wildcats fell victim to Williams Middle School Lady Tigers 36-29.
Dillon led 7-4 after the first period of play. Dillon committed 6 fouls while Williams Middle School committed 2 fouls.
By halftime The Lady Tigers led 19-12. In the second period of play Dillon committed only 2 fouls while Williams Middle School committed 6 fouls. After 3 periods of play the Lady Tigers led 32-18. Dillon fought back in the final period and closed the gap to only 7 points.

The visiting Loris Lions handed the Dillon Wildcats a 75-55 loss on Tuesday, February 5, in varsity basketball action.
Dillon controlled the tip-off.
After the first period of play the score was knotted at 14, and Dillon had committed 4 errors while Loris had committed no errors. By halftime, Dillon was trailing 29-20. In the second period of play Dillon only committed 1 error, and Loris committed 4 errors. Dillon found themselves trailing by 16, 48-32, after 3 periods of play.
