One of the most surprising incidents that occurred during Hurricane Florence happened on September 16th, at Main Street Pawn and Gun on West Main Street in Dillon.
According to the incident report, L. Cpl. Ricky Day and Cpl. Matthew Cox, at 2:19 a.m. on September 16th, the City of Dillon Police Department was dispatched to an alarm call at Main Street Pawn and Gun. Police were immediately on the scene and saw a white truck driving into the front of the shop. The police exited their vehicle and at least one pulled his weapon and ordered the people in the truck to stop and get out. Instead, the driver of the truck put it in drive and drove through the front of the store. The police kept yelling at the driver to stop, but he kept backing up and going forward. The officer called for backup, and several other officers showed up, including more Dillon City units, Dillon County Units, Highway Patrol, and a Latta unit.
The driver kept backing up and moving forward until the truck finally stopped.
Police ordered the suspects out of the vehicle and took them into custody.
Investigators were called to process the scene. Several rifles and pistols were found in the truck, and the driver had two pistols in his front pockets.
The truck was discovered to be stolen.
Offenses listed on the report included burglary first, malicious injury to property, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Elijah Jamaris McCollum, age 32, 2623 Buttonwood Drive, Hamer.
The City of Dillon Police Department dealt with a number of incidents during Hurricane Florence. Some of these include:
• Sometime between 8:00 p.m. on September 14th and 10:14 a.m. on September 15th, someone broke out the window at the Tire and Lube counter at Wal-Mart and took several items from the electronic department. Some of the items taken include Beats headphones, speakers, NBA 2k19 video games, and Madden 19 video games. Responding were Sgt. Joshua Kasson, Pvt. Brett Thompson, Capt. Vereen, Lt. Turner, and First Sergeant Herring, First Sgt. Lee, Cpl. Tyler, and Cpl. Upton.
• Between September 15th and September 16th, someone took a suitcase from a vehicle on East Jackson Street. A pistol was inside the suitcase. Sgt. Michael Yoder responded.
• On September 16th, a burglary was reported at the Tiger Mart on East Main Street. The suspects made entry through the roof. While inside, they broke into the ATM machine and damaged the ice box. At the time of the report, it was unclear what inventory was missing, Responding were Cpl. Blake Legette, Private Brett Thompson, and Lt. Jason Turner.
• Between September 16th and September 17th, someone burglarized a home on South 12th Avenue. Multiple items were taken including guns, jewelry, tablets, electronics, and medications. Responding was Sgt. Ray McPhatter.
• On September 17th, someone unsuccessfully attempted to steal a generator from a residence on East Jefferson Street. Responding was Private Steven G. Lane.
• On September 17th, a license tag was stolen from a vehicle at America’s Best Value Inn on Radford Boulevard. Responding was Cpl. Ronald Graham.
• On September 18th, a burglary was reported at a residence on West Hampton Street. Among the items missing were a game system, games, jerseys, sneakers, and other clothing. First Sgt. Melvin Lee was the responding officer.
• The department also responded to a civil dispute, flooded vehicles, reports of spoiled groceries and household goods, a vandalism, and weather-related property damage.
