Ruth Wannamaker Cottingham Graham

GREENSBORO – Ruth Wannamaker Cottingham Graham of Greensboro, NC died at Friends Homes at Guilford, Monday, October 01, 2018.
The Rev. Jody Seymour will officiate at a graveside service Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, 2621 Blacksburg Rd., Earl, NC.

She was born April 6, 1925 in Dillon County, SC. She was predeceased by her parents, J. Ernest and Ruth W. Cottingham, a sister, Elizabeth Cottingham Ashley of Columbia, MO, and a brother, J. Ernest Cottingham, Jr. (a World War II casualty).
She was a graduate of Winthrop College and taught English in Rockingham, NC and Gastonia, NC high schools for eight years. In 1953 she married Max L. Graham and they lived in Gastonia for forty-two years. She moved to Greensboro to be near her two sons, and their families.
She is survived by Max L. Graham, Jr. (Sharen) of Advance, NC, John W. Graham (Cynthia) of Greensboro, NC; and five grandchildren, Max Graham, III, Mark, Katie, Carrie Graham, and Molly Young.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful staff in The Birches and the Whittier Center at Friends Homes Guilford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Friends Homes Residents Assistance Fund, 925 New Garden Rd., Greensboro, NC 27410.
