Mrs. Rea Powell Berry, 90, beloved widow of the late Willie Henry Berry, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence after an illness.
Born in the Hemingway Township of Williamsburg County, SC, on August 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Francis M. and Bythia Jordan Powell. She was a member of Latta Southern Methodist Church and was the retired owner/operator of Berry’s Grocery Store in Latta. She enjoyed working in her yard and cherished time spent with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who always put the needs of her family first.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 in Magnolia Cemetery in Latta officiated by Rev. Carroll Stephens. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon.
She is survived by her loving children, Jeanne B. (Mike) Sansbury of Latta and Willie “Bill” (Wanda) Berry of Latta; a sister, Tenna Powell of Marion; grandsons, Willie (Sonya) Berry, Michael (Jenna) Sansbury, Robbie (Sarah) Berry and Ethan (Amanda) Sansbury; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter and twins expected in December.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; a daughter, Judy P. Blewett and by numerous brothers and sisters.
