Gators Defeat Cross

The defending Class A State Champions Lake View Wild Gators won 32-12 over Cross in the second round of playoffs on Friday, Nov. 11, in Lake View, S. C.
The Wild Gators found themselves in a tough battle in the first half.
The Wild Gators defense forced Cross to punt after gaining only 2 yards on 3 plays in the opening series of the third quarter.
Cross returned the favor by forcing Lake View to punt on fourth down. The punt was a short one, and Cross took over. Cross was determined to move the ball down field only to be stopped by the Lake View defense on fourth and 7. Lake View took over. Albert Wheeler managed to score from 8 yards out with 9:54 remaining in the third quarter. Lake View was up 20-12.
Once again Cross was forced to punt after 3 downs. The Lake View Wild Gators wasted no time and quickly put 6 points on the scoreboard on 2-yard run by Delvon Bethea with 5:41 remaining in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion attempt failed by Lake View, and the lead was now 26-12.
Lake View’s Deonte Roberts picked up and fumble and carried it in for 6 points with 4:34 remaining. This was the last points of the game by either side as the 2-point conversion attempt was no good by Lake View failed.
Lake View’s Delvon Bethea rushed 12 times for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns. De’Ante Bridgett rushed for 40 yards for the Wild Gators.
Lake View will travel to Baptist Hill on Friday, Nov. 18, for the third round game to be played at 7:30 p.m.
