Fork Presbyterian Church Celebrates Independence Day

On Sunday, July 2, Fork Presbyterian Church was decorated with flags, balloons, and lots of red, white, and blue flowers as they joined their hearts together and celebrated Independence Day. Daphne Hayes played “You’re a Grand Old Flag” as Tommy Hayes presented the American flag, Ken Scott presented the Christian flag, and Gracie Johnson brought the Bible in. The congregation pledged allegiance to the American flag and then everyone sang “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.”
Steve Haywood shared a reading, “What Freedom Means,” with the congregation. This was a very moving reading that reminded us of so many freedoms that we take for granted.
The Sanctuary Choir, under the leadership of Ms. Daphne Hayes, sang a beautiful arrangement of “God, of Our Fathers.”
Following the Affirmation of Faith, the congregation became the choir and sang “God Bless America.” They were accompanied by Ms. Daphne Hayes on the piano, and Rev. Adrienne Anderson on the keyboard. This was a very exciting march as the congregation sang and all waved their American flag.
The congregation was given the opportunity to stand and share one freedom they were especially thankful for that God had allowed them to have.
Rev. Anderson used 2 Chronicles 7:14 for the morning scripture. Her message was “Let Freedom Ring.” Ken Scott had the benediction and the blessing for the meal.
Gregg and Jennifer Hatcher grilled the hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone. The children enjoyed a bouncy house after they finished eating. The weather was perfect, and there was much excitement at Fork Presbyterian Church as they celebrated Independence Day!
