Latta Junior Legion Earns Win Over Pee Dee

Latta’s Junior American Legion baseball team claimed an 8-4 win over Pee Dee in Latta on Monday, June 12.
Latta’s Peyton Benson pitched 4 and 1/3 innings and allowed 3 hits, 3 runs of which 2 were earned, walked 1, and struck out 3 for the win.
Ethan Goodale was tagged with the loss for Pee Dee. He pitched 1 inning and allowed 2 hits, 4 earned runs, walked 4, and struck out 1.
Pee Dee got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning with 1 run. Latta quickly responded in the bottom of the first with 2 runs to take a 1-run lead. Latta added 2 runs in the bottom of the second inning. In the fourth inning each team tacked on 2 runs and in the fifth inning each added another run. Latta added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Latta committed 3 errors in the game while Pee Dee committed 4. Pee Dee connected for 6 hits in the game led by Jacob Elliott who managed 2 hits in 3 at-bats while Preston Miles was perfect at the plate with a triple and a rbi in 1 at-bat. Jacob Adams connected for a double and a rbi in 3 at-bats.
Latta garnered 11 hits with Kody Anderson’s 3 hits in 3 at-bats while Pierce Watson connected for 3 hits and a rbi in 4 at-bats. John Malcolm George picked up 2 rbi with 1 hit in 4 at-bats. Latta traveled to Marion on June 14.
