Local Players Lead Claflin To Tournament

Lake View High School’s Kayla Sanderson and Dillon High School’s Shaquailla German helped lead Claflin University to its first Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball tournament championship on May 6 in Florence over Miles College 13-5 in the championship game.
Both of these ladies were honored to have helped make history at Claflin University while becoming great friends and teammates. They helped complement each other as they bonded as pitcher and catcher…and friends. Each of them relied on one another to get the job done, and that’s exactly what they accomplished.
Sanderson’s leadership has been an added blessing for German. Each has a respect for the other player and listens to the advice of one another. Both of these players are quick to state how important it is for teamwork from all members on the team to accomplish a championship.
Senior Kayla Sanderson, is not only a great softball player, but also has great academic skills while graduating Summa Cume Laude. She will begin teaching Algebra at Lake View Middle/High School and coaching at the Lake View Recreation Department in the fall of this year.
