McLeod Signs With Voorhees

On Thursday, May 25, another Dillon High School athlete, Kendra McLeod, took the next step in her future by signing to play basketball with Voorhees College in Denmark, S.C.
Athletic Director “Coach” Jackie Hayes opened the signing by congratulating her on her achievement and encouraged her to “take what she had learned here at Dillon with her to the next level.”
An avid basketball enthusiast since the age of seven, Kendra has enjoyed the game of basketball that her Father, Bobby McLeod, influenced her the most to be active in the sport and enjoy the game. She devotes her entire free time to the sport of basketball.
McLeod looks forward to playing basketball at the next level at Voorhees where she will welcome the challenge of new surroundings and new players. This opportunity will give her a chance “to come out of her shell” on the basketball court. She excelled at Dillon as a shooting guard and playing defense. She will take these traits with her along with the memories of the Dillon coaches shouting and preparing his players before the games.
While at Dillon she received “the Most Improved Player” award.
She will major in Biology at Vorhees although she was offered by other colleges such as Morris.
Kendra’s parents, Bobby and Karen McLeod, are both so proud for her accomplishments not only in basketball but also in academics. They eagerly await to see more achievements at the next level.
Coach James McMillan spoke very highly of Kendra as he remarked that she was one of the most dependable players on the team. She will certainly be difficult to replace. When she was not on the court, she was on the sidelines encouraging the players. “She held everyone together. She was the glue of the team”. Coach McMillan’s only regret was that he was not able to coach her more than one year while here. He exclaimed “She picks up so easily, and she is a great student athlete”. I am looking for great accomplishments on the college level.
Coach Lee Page also remarked that Kendra is a great student athlete. With a smile on his face, he stated “Kendra carried herself not only academically but also as a great athlete. She will do great at Vorhees”. I wish her only the best.
