Nick Collins Signs To Play Baseball At USC Lancaster

The Lake View Wild Gators’ Nick Collins moved forward in his goal of playing baseball on the next level as he signed to play baseball with USC Lancaster on Wednesday, April 12, in the Lake View High School Media Center.
Although Collins plays football, Collins has been playing the sport of baseball that he enjoys so much since he was only 5 years old. His parents have always supported him in his pursuit of America’s pastime.
Presently, he is a pitcher, plays shortstop, and second base for the Lake View squad.
Collins’ career stats are: batting average .340 with 41 RBI. Nick was 11-2 with a 1.37 ERA and 113 strikeouts as a pitcher.
Collins feels he should fit well into the program at USC Lancaster as it is a small college with a great atmosphere and coaching staff, somewhat similar to his present surroundings, at least, more so that a larger college.
Collins also received an award from Florence Darlington Technical College and others were also interested in him.
My most important memory of high school baseball is being selected to the All-State team. Not only was he selected to the All-State Team, he also was All-Conference, two-time recipient of the Lake View Best Pitcher award, and the Lake View High School Best Defensive Player award.
I will always treasure the memories I have of my high school career as I pursue the next level in baseball. I will carry everything I have learned with me to college where I will major in Physical Therapy.
While not on the field practicing or playing the game he excels and loves so much, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and hanging with friends.
Nick exclaimed, “Would it not be great to go out as a winner, another state title in baseball for Lake View!”
Coach Kip Herlong commented, “Nick has done a great job for our baseball team over the last four years, both as a pitcher and an infielder. We are proud to have him represent us next year at USCL”.
Nick’s parents, Glenn and Karen Collins, remarked, “We are very proud of him. He gives 100% all of the time. He goes hard at everything he does.”
