Latta Defeats Carvers Bay

The Latta Vikings proved too much for the Carvers Bay Bears on Friday, April 7, in a varsity baseball game played in Latta as Latta blanked Carvers Bay 10-0 in a 10-rule, 5-inning game.
Latta did not commit an error in this game while Carvers Bay was guilty of 2.
Latta’s McLeod Carmichael pitched 5 perfect innings allowing no hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out 8 to claim the win while Carvers Bay’s Moore was charged with the loss having pitched 3 innings and allowing 2 hits and 2 runs.
Latta jumped off to an early lead scoring a run in the bottom of the second inning which would prove to be the only score needed for the win. However, Latta added another run in the bottom of the third and poured on the hits and scored 8 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to close the game.
The Vikings combined for 10 hits in the game.
Russ Rogers had a triple to lead off to begin the fifth inning followed by a double by Dylan Brewer, a double by Cledus Williams, a fielder’s choice by Noah Moody, a single by Caleb Mishue, and another double by Russ Rogers.
Russ Rogers had a single, a double, and a triple and 4 rbi in his 4 at-bats for the Vikings.
Caleb Mishue and Jason Norton each had a rbi in the game for Latta.
Latta is 11-6 for the season.
Latta hosted Hartsville on Monday, April 10.
