Lady Cats Get Win Over Loris

The Dillon Lady Wildcats won 11-1 over Loris in varsity softball action in Dillon on Tuesday, April 4, in a 10-rule, 6-inning game.
The Lady Wildcats shut down the Loris Lions in the top of the first inning with 3 up, 3 down.
The Dillon Lady Wildcats connected for 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead. Auh’Kiera Smiling arrived safely at first on an error and advanced to second base on a high throw to home by the pitcher. Johnna Rogers hit one deep to center for a triple and a rbi. Brittany Miller was out at first but picked up a rbi on a grounder to the shortstop.
Loris #13 dropped one in to short left for a single. #12 hit a short blooper towards first and was safe at first as the ball was bobbled. Loris left 2 runners on base in the top of the second inning.
Jayla Goodwin led off with a single between the shortstop and third and stole second base. Auh’Kiera Smiling connected for a double and rbi on a hit to center and ended up on third on the throw. Johnna Rogers garnered a rbi on a sac fly to left. Brittany Miller arrived safely at first due to error and advanced to second on the throw. Dillon’s threat ended on a good catch of a fly hit by Taylor Blackmon to short center.
After 2 innings Dillon was up 4-0.
Loris’ #00, Callie Cox hit a line drive to third and was safe at first to start the top of the third inning. Loris’ #4 dropped one in to short center for a single and now runners were on first and second. Maddie Cox, #11, hit one by first for a single and rbi that left runners on the corners.
After 2 and one-half innings Dillon’s lead was 4-1.
Emilee Price connected for a single to short left for the only hit in the bottom of the third inning.
Dillon retired Loris with 3 up and 3 down in the top of the fourth inning.
Johnna Rogers arrived at first on an error. Brittany Miller tagged a hot grounder to the shortstop who committed an error and both runners were safe, one at home and one at first.
After 4 innings Dillon led 5-1.
On an error, #15 for Loris arrived at first but was unable to advance as Dillon quelched the threat.
Tori Grimsley hit one to left and ended up on third base to start the inning for the Lady ‘Cats. Ashley Phillips hit a short fly to second and was safe at first. Phillips stole second on the pitch. Emilee Price hit a grounder to the shortstop and picked up a rbi and the runner on second advanced to third. Jayla Goodwin hit one to short center for single and a rbi. Jayla Goodwin stole second. Brandi Turner hit one to the pitcher and was safe at first on a throwing error and advanced to second on the throw. Johnna Rogers popped up one to first and was safe.
After 5 innings of play Dillon was up 8-1.
Maddie Cox, #11 for Loris arrived at first on an error. #11, Maddie Cox, for Loris was retired on a good catch by Emilee Price who was now catching for the Dillon Lady Wildcats.
Taylor Blackmon led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a hit to center for a single. Blackmon stole second and third. Tori Grimsley hit a hot one by the shortstop for a single and a rbi. Jayla Goodwin arrived at first on an error. Runners were now on first and second. Brandi Turner hit one over the pitcher to load the bases. Johnna Rogers hit a grounder by the pitcher and picked up 2 rbi to end the game with a 11-1 win over Loris.
Tori Grimsley picked up the win for Dillon in the 6-inning game.
Dillon traveled to Hartsville on Wednesday, April 5.
