Latta Vikings Baseball Team Hands Andrews 11-1 Loss

The Latta Vikings handed Andrews a 11-1 loss in the 10-rule shortened 5-inning game played in Latta on Friday, March 31.
Andrews drew first blood scoring a run in the top of the first inning. However, Latta quelched the fire by scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 7-1 lead. Latta added another run in the bottom of the second inning, another 2 runs in the bottom of the third, and the final run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Latta pounded 11 hits while holding Andrews to only 2, a single in 2 at-bats by D. Cox and E. Browder.
The Vikings were guilty of 3 errors, and Andrews committed 2 in the game.
Andrew’s lone run came off of a ground out rbi by L. Lambert.
Latta’s Dylan Brewer singled and picked up 2 rbi followed by an error that scored 1 run, and another run scored on a fielder’s choice by McLeod Carmichael.
McLeod Carmichael and Russ Rogers each connected for a double and a single in 4 at-bats while Dylan Brewer singled, doubled, and picked up 2 rbi in 3 at-bats for the Vikings while Cledus Williams doubled and picked up 2 rbi in 3 at-bats. Jason Norton singled and picked up a rbi in 2 at-bats while Daniel Khalil garnered a single and a rbi in 3 at-bats. Kody Anderson, Deonte Stanley, and John Malcolm George each picked up a rbi in the win.
McLeod Carmichael was the winning pitcher. He allowed 2 hits, 1 earned run, struck out 4, and walked 1.
Andrews’ D. Bourne pitched 1.2 innings and allowed 5 hits, 8 runs of which 5 were earned, struck out 1, and walked 2.
Andrews’ B. Johns pitched 2.1 innings and allowed 6 hits and 3 runs of which 2 were earned.
Latta is 10-4 on the season.
The Latta Vikings baseball team traveled to Hartsville on Monday, April 3.
