Vikings Get Victory Over Marion

The Latta Vikings returned home Wednesday, March 22, with a 6-2 win in varsity baseball over the Marion Swamp Foxes in an error- plagued game played in Marion. Latta committed 3 errors while Marion committed 5.
Hunter Sawyer picked up the win for Latta. He pitched the complete 7 innings. He allowed 4 hits, 2 runs, walked 1, and struck out 6.
Teric Reaves also pitched the complete 7-inning game for Marion and was tagged with the loss. He allowed 12 hits, 6 runs of which 4 were earned, and struck out 1.
Latta took an early 1-run lead in the first inning off a double and rbi by Dylan Brewer.
Marion fought back in the bottom of the second inning and took the lead by scoring 2 runs.
The Vikings quickly knotted the game at 2 while scoring a run when Pierce Watson singled with 2 outs in the top of the third inning.
Neither team could muster any scoring in the fourth inning.
However, Latta managed 4 runs in the top of the fifth inning. The scoring began when Pierce Watson singled and picked up a rbi.
There was no scoring in the sixth and seventh innings by either team.
Latta managed 12 hits in the game. Jason Norton was perfect at the plate garnering 3 singles and a rbi in 3 at-bats. Daniel Khalil was also perfect at the plate with a single and a rbi in his 1 at-bat.
Dylan Brewer doubled, singled, and picked up a rbi in his 4 at-bats while Pierce Watson connected for 2 singles and 2 rbi in his 4 at-bats. Caleb Mishue also hit 2 singles in his 4 at-bats. Russ Rogers and Cledus Williams each garnered a single in his 4 at-bats.
Peyton Britt connected for 2 singles in 3 at-bats for Marion while Gaberil Watson garnered a double and 2 rbi in his 3 at-bats. D. Hansucker also singled in his 3 at-bats.
Latta is 7-3 and 4-0 in Region 7-2A.
The Latta Vikings hosted Johnsonville on Thursday, March 23.
