Lady Wildcats Fall To Bishop England

The Dillon Lady Wildcats succumbed to the Bishop England Battling Bishops 38-27 in the third round of 3A basketball playoff action held in Dillon on Monday, February 20.
The Dillon Lady Wildcats fought throughout the game while leading most of the time until the final 5 minutes of the game when the Battling Bishops managed to score while holding the Lady Wildcats to only 1 point in the final period to eliminate Dillon for the third straight year in playoff action.
Not only was the crowd impressed with the speed and tenacity of the Dillon team but Bishop England was also startled and fought to regain their composure.
The Dillon Lady Wildcats led 17-13 after the first period of play. The Bishop England Battling Bishops fought back in the second period of play to tie the game at 21 at halftime.
The third period was a low-scoring one as Dillon was able to put only 5 points on the board while holding Bishop England to 3 points. However, in the fourth period of play Dillon was held to only 1 point while Bishop England managed to pull away in the final 5 minutes of play to hand Dillon yet another bitter loss in the playoffs.
Khamele Manning led the Lady Wildcats with 7 points while Kendra McLeod connected for 6 points. Shimya Sowells, Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon, and Ny’Asia Campbell each garnered 4 points while Kyia Bell hit for 2 points.
The Battling Bishops was led in scoring by Rhetta Moore with 16 points, Christine Egede and Allie Tucker each connected for 8 points while Katie Cullum added 6 points in the win.
