The Latta Lady Vikings defeated Lamar Silver Foxes 40-39 in varsity basketball action in the Gatorade Turkey shootout on Monday, Nov. 21, in Lamar.
Latta came from behind in the fourth quarter to capture the victory by 1 point as Lamar led 6-5 after the first quarter, 19-13 at the half, and 29-25 after the third quarter. The Vikings outscored Lamar 15-10 in the final fourth quarter.
The Vikings’ Maya McDuffie scored a game-high 18 points while Brianna Green scored 14. Kimball, Gandy, and James each added 2 points in the win.
The Silver Foxes were led in scoring by Simone Durant with 10 points followed by L. Coe with 9, Q. Coe and N. Bacote each contributed 7 points, and A. Gardner added 6.
Latta is 1-0 for the season.
The Latta Vikings played at West Florence in the Turkey Shootout championship game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
