Relay For Life Kickoff Is November 14

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Dillon County will host a kickoff event on November 14th from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church as volunteers and participants launch fundraising efforts for the 2017 year.
If you are interested in joining us for the 2017 year, please join us as we kick off the 2017 season.
Are you or someone you know interested in quitting smoking? November 17 is the perfect day!
Join the American Cancer Society this year for the Great American Smokeout®.
Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the U.S.; yet about 40 million Americans still smoke cigarettes — that’s about one in every five adults.
The American Cancer Society marks the Great American Smokeout each year by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit or to quit smoking that day. By quitting — even for one day — smokers will be taking an important step toward a healthier life, one that can help lead to reducing cancer risk.
For more information about the Great American Smokeout and how you or someone you know can take the steps to quit, visit cancer.org/smokeout or call 1-800-227-2345. For more information about the upcoming kickoff, please contact Elizabeth DeMeyere, Community Manager at 704.806.0029 or Elizabeth. demeyere@cancer.org

About the
American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers saving lives and fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. As the largest voluntary health organization, the Society’s efforts have contributed to a 20 percent decline in cancer death rates in the U.S. since 1991, and a 50 percent drop in smoking rates.
Thanks in part to our progress nearly 14 million Americans who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will celebrate more birthdays this year. As we mark our 100th birthday in 2013, we’re determined to finish the fight against cancer. We’re finding cures as the nation’s  largest private, not-for-profit investor in cancer research, ensuring people facing cancer have the help they need and continuing the fight for access to quality health care, lifesaving screenings, clean air, and more.  For more information, to get help, or to join the fight, call us anytime, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
