Bozard Becomes Commander Of Capital Guardians

Joint Base Andrews, Washington, D.C., – Former Dillon resident Jeffrey C. Bozard became Commander of the 113th Wing, the Capital Guardians, and was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.

He is responsible for the command, control, and oversight of the 1,200-member wing which is made up of six components, including the 121st Fighter Squadron.
The 121st Squadron, which is comprised of 22 F-16’s, is responsible for the air defense of the National Capital Region.
General Bozard is a 1986 graduate of Dillon High School and was a member of the initial ROTC Class, beginning with his junior year. Upon graduation, he was nominated by former Congressman Robin Tallon for an appointment to the U. S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  He graduated from the U. S. Air Force Academy in May of 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Engineering and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force.
He served 13 years in the active Air Force in Mississippi, Japan, and Florida before joining the District of Columbia Air National Guard in 2003 as a full-time officer and pilot.  His operational flying assignments include T-37’s, T-38’s, F-15’s, F-16’s, and C-38’s.  He has served as instructor pilot, evaluation pilot, alert pilot, Commander of the 113th Air Force Maintenance Squadron, 113th Maintenance Group, and Vice Commander of the 113th Wing.  Additionally, General Bozard has served as the Director of Logistics for the Air National Guard.
Prior to his current assignment, he served as Director of Integration for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
General Bozard is a command pilot with more than 3,900 hours, including 155.2 combat hours incurred during combat tours at Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia and Joint Base Balad, Iraq.
General Bozard has attended numerous Air Force schools, including the Joint and Combined Warfighting School, Joint Forces Staff College, National Security Studies Program, George Washington University; and he holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the University of Maryland.
General Bozard is married to the former Devon Neff Tucker of Bethesda, Maryland; and they have two daughters, Anna Katharine Kireina and Avalon Neff.
They currently reside in Alexandria, Virginia.  General Bozard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bozard of Dillon and the brother of Jennifer L. Bozard, PHR of Charleston.
