Andrews Defeats Latta
The Andrews varsity football team defeated the Latta Vikings football team 21-13 in Latta on Friday, Sept. 23.
Andrew’s Tyreike Stelle rushed for a touchdown and picked up 122 yards in the victory.
Latta’s Ontario McClellan rushed for a touchdown and 146 yards in the loss.
The Vikings’ quarterback, Dylan Brewer, completed 12 of 24 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown.
Davanota Porter grabbed 3 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown and also 15 tackles and 1 FR on defense for Latta.
Justin Hall added 10 tackles for Latta, and Chandler Nolon had 8 tackles and 1 FF.
Jalen Gomillion and Deonta Stanley each had 6 tackles in the heartbreaking loss for Latta.
Kendall Moultrie got 1 interception for Latta.
The Vikings fell to 3-3 and 1-1 in Region 7-2A for the season.

Allen To Be Honored At Clemson Game
Brigadier General Carroll Allen will be honored at Clemson University in front of 85,000 fans on Saturday, October 1, in the second tv timour during first quarter. He will be the “Hero of the Game.”
Every home game a hero is honored based on his military background. He is a 1950 graduate of Clemson. His military background will be broadcasred at that time. He will receive a plaque.

Lake View Outscores Opponent
Lake View outscored Charleston Charter 59-6 in varsity football action in Lake View on Friday, Sept. 23.
Lake View led 41-0 after the first quarter and added 6 points in each quarter thereafter to capture the victory.
Charleston Charter’s only score came in the second quarter when they managed 6 points.
Lake View’s Stone Spivey had 2 interception returns, and Shiyon Gilchrist also returned an interception for a touchdown.
The Wild Gators’ Josh Floyd rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown.
The Wild Gators quickly scored with only 57 seconds into the game on a Darius Ford 51-yard pass from Duane Nichols. The PAT was good by Brandon Acevedo.
With only 1 minute and 19 seconds into the game the Wild Gators were on the scoreboard again on a Stone Spivey 32-yard interception return followed by the PAT by Brandon Acevedo.
Lake View’s quarterback Duane Nichols rushed for a 18-yard touchdown with 8:17 remaining in the first quarter.  The PAT failed.
With time remaining in the first quarter the Wild Gators’ Stone Spivey returned an interception 18 yards for a score, and the PAT by Brandon Acevedo was good.
Lake View’s quarterback Duane Nichols rushed for a 38-yard touchdown with 4:24 remaining in the first quarter and the PAT by Brandon Acevedo was good.
The Wild Gators’ Shlyon Gilchrist  grabbed an interception and scampered 67 yards for the touchdown, and Brandon Acevedo’s PAT was good with 48 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
Lake View added to the score with 7:03 remaining in the second quarter Tahja Nesmith rushed for a 20-yard touchdown.  The PAT was no good.
Charleston Charter’s only score of the game was a 30-yard run by John Butler with 1:28  remaining in the second quarter.  The PAT was no good.
Lake View added another touchdown with 57 seconds remaining in the third quarter on a 30-yard run by Josh Floyd.  The PAT was no good.
The Wild Gators’ Quinto Lewis scored the final 6 points of the game on a 8-yard run.
Lake View sports a perfect 5-0 record for the season.
The Wild Gators will host Green Sea Floyds on Friday, Sept. 30.

Lake View Defeats Green Sea
The Lake View Wild Gators defeated Green Sea Floyds 28-8 in varsity football action on Friday, Sept. 30, at Green Sea.
The first quarter proved to be a defensive battle as neither team could muster any points. However, Lake View managed 22 points in the second quarter behind quarterback Duane Nichols who threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in the game.
Green Sea Floyds answered back with 8 points of their own in the second quarter.
Neither team put any points on the scoreboard in the third quarter but the Lake View Wild Gators added 6 more points in the fourth quarter to make the final score 28-8 and remain undefeated on the season with a 6-0 record.
The Wild Gators will host East Clarendon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 7.

Wildcats Defeat Waccamaw
Johnny Allen and Zareon  Hayes scored a pair of touchdowns each to lead the Dillon Wildcats past the Waccamaw Warriors Friday night in the opening game of the 2016 6-AAA Region season. After losing the opening game of the season to Mallard Creek, NC, 7-3, the Cats reeled off four straight non-conference wins, outscoring their opponents 195 points to 41, before Friday’s opener.
The Wildcats scored on each of their five possessions in the first half to take a 37-0 lead at the break and took the opening kickoff of the second half and marched 56 yards in nine plays to score their 41st point before many substitute players got into the game the rest of the way.
Allen ran his season’s total rushing numbers to 487 with 124 yards on 10 carries, 9 coming in the first half. He opened the scoring with a 24 yard scamper to cap a seven yard drive that took only 2 minutes off the clock and scored again in the second quarter on a 26-yard run. He has accounted for 7 TDs on the ground and has 4 receiving touchdowns to lead the team in scoring with 66 points.
Both touchdown runs by Hayes were out of the Wildcats formation, the first a 14-yard carry in the second quarter and his second, a 1 yard plunge up the middle in the third.
Junior quarterback Brayden Hawkins completed 8 of 12 pass attempts for 124 yards, including a 29-yard scoring toss to Ty Porter with 1:17 remaining in the first half. Hawkins is completing passes at a 63% rate, 57 of 91, and has thrown 11 touchdowns in the five games that he has played this season. He sat out the opener with Mallard Creek, but came on strong in his first start at quarterback with five touchdown passes against the Mullins Auctioneers while completing 17 of 22 attempts for 270 yards.
In the win Friday night the offense accounted for 354 net yards, 230 rushing and 124 in the air, while the first defensive unit held the Warriors to only 98 yards and two first downs in the first half and the reserves allowed only 10 total yards and four first downs in the second. Eight different running backs carried the football for the Cats.
Leading the way on the defense were seniors Jatoreus Manning with 11 put downs and seniors Jermaine McDaniel and Quamel Laurenceau nine each. McDaniel recorded his sixth quarterback sack and Manning also got an assist on a sack.
The Wildcats will be on the road again this coming Friday to take on the Loris Lions at 7:30.
