Magnolia 1

The ladies of the Magnolia Garden Club celebrated the end of the 2015-2016 term with a May Breakfast at Shuler’s Cypress Room. President Casey Pitts and Johnnie Luehrs hosted the event in the stunning space full of natural wood details and unique antique pieces.
Upon arrival, the ladies were served a refreshing pineapple punch as they mingled and enjoyed each other’s company. A stunning arrangement of lilies and hydrangeas adorned the center of a beautiful tablescape created by Casey Pitts.
President Pitts encouraged everyone to find a seat and brunch was served. Each lady was given a colorful plate of quiche lorraine, tomato le fleur, flower bud roll, cheese straws, fruit pavlova and french macaroons. The event highlighted a more refined side of Shuler’s BBQ with the new bakery’s kitchen executing the ladies’ delicious menu.
Business was kept to a minimum, but the ladies did want to honor outgoing President Casey Pitts with a Garden Club of South Carolina Life Membership. Bettie Carmichael presented the certificate and pin and commented on Casey’s tremendous contributions to the Magnolia Garden Club and the club’s appreciation for all of her efforts. Casey thanked everyone and expressed her hope that the club would continue to be a “working” garden club that contributes to our community. With that, she handed the floor over to incoming Co-Presidents Johnnie Luehrs and Eleanor Powers.
The pair graciously agreed to take over the responsibility of running the club, while Lynn Liebenrood will remain as Vice President, Patty Griffey will take over as Treasurer, and Tina Henry will take over as Secretary for the upcoming term.
The ladies will celebrate National Garden Week in June by planting yellow lantana around the Latta Elementary School campus.
Casey and Johnnie concluded the meeting by presenting a small sercy of a garden trowel and a packet of spring bulbs to each member.
The club will resume meetings in September. Have a great summer!!!
