Local Teachers Tour McLeod

As part of the innovative new iSTEM experience, a group of local teachers recently toured McLeod Dillon.  iSTEM is a program designed to engage elementary, middle, high school and district leaders to inspire thinking using the iSTEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines.
The iSTEM disciplines are utilized in nearly every facet of modern life and hold the key to solving many of the world’s most pressing current and future challenges. However, the United States’ position in the global economy is declining, in part because US workers lack fundamental knowledge in these disciplines. iSTEM is a new approach that aims to capture students’ interest and provide them with the necessary foundational knowledge in iSTEM fields.
The teachers viewed the Emergency, Radiology and Laboratory Departments and got a first hand look at the day to day functions of the hospital. McLeod has made tremendous investments in state-of-the-art technology to improve patient care, including MRI, CT scans, nuclear studies, digital mammography, 4D ultrasounds and vascular studies.
