East Clarendon defeated the defending state champions Latta Vikings on Friday, May 13, to win the Class A Softball Lower State Championship in Latta.
East Clarendon won 5-0 in the first game and 5-1 in the second game. Brooklyn Fort was the winning pitcher in both games.
The Wolverines’ Gracen Watts hit a 3-run homer in the first game and a 2-run homer in the second game help East Clarendon take the two games from Latta. Kingsley Driggers also homered in the second game for the Wolverines.
The Latta Lady Vikings had opportunities in the games but could not take advantage.
The Latta Lady Vikings ended the season with a record of 22-9.
