The Latta Vikings defeated Hannah-Pamplico 5-3 on Monday, May 9, in the varsity softball lower state playoffs held in Pamplico.
Arica Gandy pitched the complete game, allowed 7 hits, 3 runs of which were earned, walked 1, and struck out 6.
Lindsey Prosser was credited with the loss. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 7 hits, 5 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 4, and struck out 9.
Madison Miles connected for a double, a single, and a rbi in her 3 at-bats for Hannah-Pamplico and Ryan Brown picked up 2 rbi on 1 hit in 3 trips-to-the-plate.
Hannah-Pamplico took the lead in the bottom of the second inning when they scored 2 runs.
Latta picked up a run in the top of the fourth to close the gap to 1 run. Latta took the lead as they scored4 runs in the top of the fifth.
Hannah-Pamplico added another run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 5-3.
Hannah-Pamplico hosted East Clarendon in the Class a lwoer state playoffs on Wednesday, May 11.
Latta will host the winner of that game on Friday, May 13.
