Edwin F. Horne

Mr. Edwin F. Horne Sr. (E.F.), 93, went to be with his heavenly father on April 20, 2016,  surrounded by his loved ones at home.
He was born in Dillon County on July 23, 1922, the son of the late Edwin and Rebecca Maude Ford Horne. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Lake View and served as a deacon for many years. He was a farmer for 30 years, a mechanic at Smith Chevrolet in Lake View for twenty years and at Rawls’s Chevrolet of Fairmont for twenty years.  Mr. Horne was a dedicated fireman serving on the Lake View Fire Department and on the Dillon County Fire Station #3 for over fifty years.
Mr. Horne is survived by his daughter, Judy Harrison (James) of Lake View, son George Horne (Susan) of Lake View and a daughter-in-law Gale Horne of Lake View; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; a brother McIver Horne (Virginia ) of Charlotte, NC; sister Rebecca Stroud Larkon (Bill) of Surfside Beach, SC; several nieces and nephew, and three special ladies, Becky Elvington, Carolyn Proctor and Elaine McLean.
A funeral service wasSaturday, April 23, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lake View. Burial followed in the Lake View Cemetery directed by Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View.  The family received friends from 6-8 pm Friday, April 22, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Lake View.
Mr. E. F. was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Elsie Lupo Horne, son, Edwin F. “ Buddie “ Horne, Jr, and sisters, Lorraine Hopkins, Kathaleen Woodle, Omega Faulk and Iola Gardner
The family would like to thank SC Hospice members Dee Nix, June Scruggs and Dr. Moore of Columbia.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Dillon County Station #3 or First Baptist Church of Lake View.
