Author Visits Latta Elementary Students

Author Latisha Thomas Cokely, formerly of Dillon and now of Maryland, read to groups of students at Latta Elementary School on Monday and talked to them about writing her book. She told the students that her book, Aleko Wanted A Mohawk, was inspired by her youngest son, Vic. This is her first children’s book and was released in November. It is a story about friendship. She told students that her second book is underway, and it is about courage and bullying. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback on the book.
