2016 Talent-A-Rama Torchlighters’ Pageant Held

The Alpha Alpha Pi Chi National Sorority, Inc. sponsored the 2016 Talent-A-Rama Torchlighters’ Pageant.  The pageant was held at Manning Baptist Church, Dillon, SC.
Six young ladies: Bethany Johnson, Dajour Huggins, Justice English, Kira Kinney, Taylor Page, and Tai`Asia Smith participated in the pageant. Each contestant performed a talent.  Praise dances were performed by Dajour Huggins who danced to the music, “Young People Cry” by Jacalyn Carr;” Justice English performed a dance using the music by Tramaine Hawkins, “I Never Lost My Praise;” and Taiasia Smith danced to the music by Sheinah Glory, “Before the Throne.”  Singing solos were Bethany Johnson who sang “His Eye is on the Sparrow;” Kira Kinney sang “Because of Who You Are;” and Taylor Page sang “I’ll Be There” by Tiffany Evans.
Kira Kinney, a ninth grade student at Marlboro High School, was crowned Ms. Alpha 2016.  Her parents are Ebony Bradford and Dwayne Kinney.  She was sponsored by Mrs. Nina Bradley.
Three Talent-A-Rama winners were chosen: Ms. Torchlighter 2016 was Justice English who is a ninth grade student at Dillon High.  Her parents are Angela and Andre Thompson.  Justice was sponsored by Mrs. Magnolia T. Williams; Torchlighter’s first runner-up was Dajour Huggins who was sponsored by Mrs. Queen McRae and her parent is Joy Huggins; Torchlighter’s second runner-up was Taylor Page who was sponsored by Ms. Dorothy Johnson. Parents of Taylor Page are Tanya and Dean Page.
The other contestants: Bethany Johnson, a senior at Dillon High School, and was sponsored by Mrs. Genave McLellan; and Tai`Asia Smith, also a senior at Dillon High School, was sponsored by Mrs. Betty Gunter;
Each contestant was recognized for her community involvement and achievements and was awarded trophies and certificates.
Torchlighters’ winners will represent the chapter on March 12 in Moncks Corner, SC.
Guest talent was performed by Jacori McCall who recited the Martin Luther King, Jr’s speech, “I Have a Dream.”
The Torchlighter’s Talent-A-Rama is a youth program that helps teens develop their talents, recognizes academic achievements and encourages community involvement.
Mrs. Magnolia T. Williams and Ms. Dorothy Johnson served as chairpersons for the pageant.   
Mrs. Nina Bradley is president of Alpha Alpha Chapter.
