Grover Gordon McLaurin, Jr.

Grover Gordon McLaurin, Jr., of Dillon, S.C., died March 7, 2016, after a brief illness. He was 93.
Born in Dillon on September 10, 1922, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina. He went on to serve as a P-51 fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he reached the rank of First Lieutenant and was decorated twice for exceptionally meritorious achievement. After the war he entered law school at the University of South Carolina and graduated with highest honors. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1947 and spent his entire professional life in Dillon, practicing law with his father and then on his own after his father’s death.
He is survived by a sister, Glennie Fowler of Columbia; thirteen nieces and nephews; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; and by special friends Pat and Carlis Causey, and Joan Meekens. He was predeceased by his parents, Grover Gordon McLaurin and Inez Ragsdale McLaurin, and by three sisters, Marianne Hubbard, Louise Stewart and Nancy McLaurin.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Evergreen Cemetery in Dillon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan. 66675, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
