Update Given On Murder Case

The following is an update from Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office on a murder investigation:
On January 20, 2016 the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Wolf Branch Circle in Dillon in reference to a shooting.
During the initial investigation, it was determined that the person there had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The individual was identified as Dequan Jamar Robinson from Lumberton, North Carolina.
The incident has been under investigation by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, Coroner’s Office and assisted by SLED Crime Scene.
The Sheriff’s Office has not made an official ruling on the case as the investigation has been ongoing. There are some circumstances about the case that we felt that needed to be reviewed by the Solicitor’s Office. The case is being reviewed by the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
We have told the family that we would contact them and let them know what the decision in the case is when we receive results of any evidence that is being processed and the solicitor’s office guidance if any charges will be brought in the case.
We understand and respect that the family wants answers, and we will be meeting with them to explain the case in more detail at the appropriate time.
