Basketball Roundup: 2/12

The Dillon Wildcats defeated Loris 62-46 in basketball action in Loris Monday, February 8.     Dillon’s Jallian Williams led all scorers with 23 points while connecting of 8 of 10 field goal attempts and 6 of 9 free throw attempts. He also grabbed one offensive rebound and added one steal in the game.
Wildcat Darius Bethea hit on 3 of 6 field goal attempts to add 6 points in the victory while adding 2 rebounds, one steal, and one deflection.
Corrian Wright added 5 points for the ‘Cats and had one rebound.
Javier Brookins, Rakeem Fletcher, and ShaMar McCollum each scored 4 points.
Javier Brookins grabbed 4 offensive and 1 defensive rebounds while adding an assist and 2 steals in the game.
RaKeem Fletcher grabbed one rebound, had one steal, and one assist.
Wildcat ShaMar McCollum grabbed 2 rebounds, had 2 steals, and one deflection.
The ‘Cats RaHeem McClam added 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots in the victory.
La’Jarius Jacobs was perfect on two free throws while Ja’Quan Knowlin sank one field goal.
Ja”Quan Knowlin grabbed 4 offensive and 8 defensive rebounds and had one blocked shot.
Darius Boatwright, #41, garnered two points for the Wildcats.
Khary White grabbed two offensive and two defensive rebounds, blocked one shot, had one deflection, and two steals to help seal the win.
Avery McCall grabbed one rebound, and Darius Boatwright grabbed two rebounds.
Josh Cousar had 2 rebounds, and Keenan Norman grabbed one.
Loris was led by Hedien Goodman who scored 12 points while connecting on 4 of 8 field goals and 4 of 8 free throws. Goodman also grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked 2 shots, made 2 steals and 1 assist.
Loris’ #21, Travis Walters, added 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
The Lions’ Corenza Johnson garnered 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots.
Eric Hemingway had 5 points for the Lions while Darius Bellamy, Kyle Bellamy, and Raymond Bellamy each had 3 points.
Mac McLeod and Trevon Morgan each scored 2 points. Rodney Chatman also had 2 points.
The Loris Lions’ Eric Hemingway grabbed 8 rebounds and had 1 blocked shot.
Raymond, Kyle, and Darius Bellamy each had a rebound. Kyle also had an assist while Darius had one blocked shot and a steal in the game.
Kavon Drayton pulled down 4 rebounds and blocked one shot for the Lions.
Koran Hemingway grabbed 2 rebounds and had 2 blocked shots in the loss.
Rodney Chatman and Mac McLeod each had one steal in the game.

The Latta Vikings Varsity Girls’ basketball team overcame a 29-26 deficit at the half to defeat Carvers Bay 62-52 in Latta Tuesday. The victory places the Vikings and Bears in a tie in the region with only one game left in the regular season.
TaKeria Legette scored 33 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and dished out 14 assists in the victory while Rianna Green garnered 11 points for the Vikings. Arica Gandy scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Cierra Sullivan added 3 points while Tyonna McKenzie garnered 3 points, 10 steals, and 5 assists while Moya McDuffie got 2 points.
Anatasthia Bromell led the Bears with 14 points followed by Eriel Watson with 10, A. Holmes with 9, L. Coles 4, and T. Young and D. Coles each scored 1 point.
Latta is 11-4 and 8-1 in Region 8A
Latta will be at home tonight (Thursday) at 6:00 pm to play Hemingway in the final regular game of the season.

The Loris Lions Junior Varsity girls basketball team defeated the Dillon Wildcats 28-19 in action Tuesday in Dillon.
The third quarter ended as #33 for Loris shot as the buzzer sounded. The Lions led after three quarters, 21-17.
Loris’ #33 took the first shot of the fourth quarter; Dillon captured the rebound. #11 Dillon drove to the other end and took a shot. #23 for Loris scored the first points of the fourth quarter on a free throw while making one of two after being fouled while shooting. It seemed as the basket would not drop through for either team on a two or three point attempt. #42 for Loris added another point when she sank the first free throw while attempting two.
Both teams never gave up as #23 and #11 for Dillon scrambled for a loose ball as did #14 for Loris.
#23 for Loris missed two attempted free throws on a technical.
Dillon’s #30 hit the last shot of the game for two points making the final score Loris 28 and Dillon 19.

The Dillon Wildcats varsity girls basketball team defeated Loris 55-18 in action on Monday in Loris.
The Wildcats held Loris to only 8 points in the first half to take a 42-8 lead.
Loris managed to score 10 points in the second half while Dillon knocked down 13.
Dillon’s JaRhonda McCrimmon added 7 points while Kia Bell had 4, Kendra McLeod 3, and JaNeaqua McCrimmon, Ny’Asia Campbell, Na’Kedra Page, and Dria Campbell scored 2 points each in the victory.
Loris was led by Green with 8 points, Harris 4 and Davis, Hickman, and Gause each scored 2 points.
