Jessie Louise Stanton Richardson

Jessie Louise Stanton Richardson, 90, of Dillon passed away on January 30, 2016 at PruittHealth – Dillon (The Pines).
Born on February 3, 1925 in Dillon County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Bessie Herring Stanton of Latta, SC. She was the widow of the late David L. Richardson of Dillon. She was predeceased by her sister, Sarah Marie Stanton, of Latta and by her niece, Mary Tyler Goodwin, of Dillon.
She is survived by her son Jerry David Richardson (Phyllis) of Dillon; granddaughter Erin Richardson Stuckey (David) of Irmo, SC; grandson Phillip David Richardson (Kristin) and great-granddaughter Miller Rose Richardson, of Murrells Inlet, SC; brother-in-law Travis Richardson (Sally) of North Charleston, SC; niece Rebecca Lane of Florence, SC; great-niece Robin Cooper (Tim) of Florence; great-nephew Keith Lane (Karen) of Florence; great-niece Betsy (Michael) Jones of Dillon; great-nephew Steve (Susan) Goodwin of Dillon; niece Reba Dodson of Fayetteville, NC; nephew Sonny Tyler (Chris) of Canton, GA; and nephew James Earl Tyler (Ramona) of Hixon, TN; neighbors of the Stewart Heights area; numerous Pilot Club members across the state; and caregivers and friends at PruittHealth-Dillon.
“Mrs. Jessie” was a faithful member of Main Street United Methodist Church of Dillon, where she was active in the Builders Sunday School Class and the Eulalia Cook Circle. She taught Sunday School in the elementary department for many years.
Many in the county fondly remember her winsome smile and kind nature as an employee of Winn Dixie for 42 years.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and a faithful church worker and friend.
She was known for her love of baking and cooking and for her delicious pound cakes known as “Jessie cakes.”
“Mrs. Jessie” was an active member of the Pilot Club since 1956 and served the Dillon Club as its president and in other leadership positions for many years. In 1995, she was awarded the Pilot Club’s most coveted award, the Mildred Henry Davenport Award, at the Pilot Club International meeting in Myrtle Beach. Jessie is also remembered for her countless hours of service to the people of Dillon as a Chamber of Commerce volunteer and hospital volunteer.
The family is especially grateful to the wonderful staff and management of PruittHealth-Dillon for the excellent care they provided “Mrs. Jessie” over the years.

Visitation will be held at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon on Monday, February 1, 2016, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation, beginning at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel at Kannaday Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon.
