Dillon Christian School Loses To Rival Pee Dee Academy

By Craig Brown
The Dillon Christian School Warriors observed senior night Friday hosting its number one rival the Golden Eagles of Pee Dee Academy.
The Eagles got the best of both varsity match ups taking the ladies game 47-12 and then winning 48-28 in the boy’s-varsity game.
In the girl’s game the Eagles jumped out early closing out the first period with a 15-4 lead over the Warriors. The Lady Warriors are not strong with passing and rebounding and the Eagles took advantage of this throughout the game and by the half time mark had a 25-8 lead. The Eagles only managed five points in the third period but they held the Warriors to a single point to close the third period leading the Warriors 30-9. The Eagles biggest offensive effort came in the final period as they posted 17 points and held the Warriors to three points to take the 47-12 region win. On the board for the Golden Eagles, Lindsay Martin had 13 points with 9 rebounds, Jasmine Harley had 8 points, 10 rebounds, Meg Martin had 5 points, 5 rebounds, Lilly Caulder and Sally Brown had 4 points each, Krystal Brown had 3 points with 3 rebounds, Rylee White, Mallory Carter, Haley Scott, Anna Grice and Holden Gasque added two points each. For the Warriors, Samantha Carpenter had 9 points with 6 rebounds, 4 steals and an assist, Audrey Polverari had 2 points with 11 rebounds, Sara Bass added a point with 2 rebounds, Katelynn Thompson had 4 rebounds, Erin Hamer had 3 rebounds, Caitie Eggert and Madison Moody added a rebound.
In the varsity boys game the Warriors’ shots found the rim of the net but the ball seemed to spin out. In basketball a fraction of an inch sometimes makes the difference. The Eagles ended the first period with a 20-9 lead but the Warriors fought back in the second period and trailed the eagles 21-18 at the halftime break. In the second half of play the Eagles seemed to get the breaks and moved out front 36-22 by the end of the third period. The Eagles outscored the Warriors by a two to one margin in the fourth period to take the 48-28 region win. On the board for the Golden Eagles, Jake Lane had 14 points with 5 rebounds, Jesse Lane had 11 points with 4 rebounds, Brandon Carter had 7 points with 3 rebounds, Jacob Erwin had 6 points with 3 rebounds, Reese Webster had 4 points, Dakota Atkins, Garrett Jenkins and Tanner Jordan added two points each. For the Warriors, Red Williams had 9 points with 5 rebounds, Michael Minges had 8 points with 4 rebounds, Ross Carlyle had 5 points with 6 rebounds, David Williams had 3 points with 3 rebounds, Nick Smith had 2 points with 3 rebounds and Jackson Wolfe added a point with 2 rebounds.
The Warriors finish the regular season tonight in Florence against Florence Christian School with JV games starting at 4 p.m.
