Chris Daniels To Speak At Genealogical Society Meeting

For the January 10, 2016, meeting of the Pee Dee Chapter, South Carolina Genealogical Society, Christopher H. Daniels will present a program on the “History of Funerals in Marion and Dillon Counties”. Chris will discuss local Indian burials, illustrated with artifacts, burials of early settlers, the earliest known funeral homes in our area, and what happened to some of the old funeral home records.  He has identified over 270 cemeteries in Dillon County alone.
A young man, Chris Daniels early began his work as a genealogist and local historian.  He was influenced in his interests and legacy of helping others by his grandfather who was a mortician’s assistant, grave digger, and funeral director’s assistant.
Chris is a graduate of Coker College with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. He worked closely with Hospice and nursing agencies for several years prior to joining the Kannaday Funeral Home staff & family. He is a funeral director apprentice and grief counselor at Kannaday Funeral Home and Greenlawn Cemetery.  His varied interests and accomplishments are shown by his memberships in the National Association of Social Workers, Phi Alpha (Rho Theta) Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, South Carolina Archaeology Society, the South Carolina Genealogical Society, National Funeral Directors Association, and Sons of Confederate Veterans.  He is currently attending E.L. Ford Theological College for his Master’s and Doctrine in Theology.
Chris and his wife, Kelli Smallwood Daniels, reside at Lake View and are members of the Pee Dee Chapter, South Carolina Genealogical Society.
