Lola Fore Covington

Lola Fore Covington went to be with her loving Lord at the age of 88 at McLeod Dillon on December 9, 2015. Mrs. Covington was born August 22, 1927 in Hamer, SC the daughter of the late Thurman Franklin and Selma Watts Fore.
She was a faithful member of Main Street United Methodist Church and very involved in its activities, including being a member of the Builder’s Sunday School Class, Marvin Rast Sunday School Class and the John Wesley Choir, founding member of the Joy Club, Flower Ministry and Louise Best Circle. She was a lay person to Lake Junaluska for many years. Also, she was active in her community and was a World War II Honoree at the memorial service in Washington, D.C.
She loved God and Country. She and Benny were 1st Veterans of the Year in Dillon County, and she was a founding member of Hamer Reunion. She also was a member of the McLeod Hospital Auxiliary and American Legion.
Mrs. Covington and her husband loved their yard and gardening, If you visited in their home, you left with canned pears, green beans or frozen vegetables from their garden or one of her crossed stitched pieces framed by her James.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lola Fore Covington will be held with Pastor Bruce Sayre and Pastor Richard Alderman officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Main Street United Methodist Church. The service of committal will be at Riverside Cemetery.
She was married to the love of her life for 62 years to the late James (Benny) Vinson Covington, where at the age of 19, they built their home and lovingly raised their four children and remained in their home for the rest of their lives. She grew up in Hamer and attended Hamer Elementary School and Dillon High School.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by the death her Son, Luther Franklin Covington and Daughter in law, Helen Reaves Covington; Sisters, Joyce Fore Hinson, Madeline Fore McKenzie; Brother, Jerry Thurman Fore.

Mrs. Covington was survived by her children; James (Whitey) Vinson Covington, Jr., (Pam) of West Columbia, SC, Vickie Covington Hyatt (Glenn) of DillonSC, Richard David Covington, Annelle Covington Daughter- in- Law, Dillon, and Grandchildren,
She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Don Covington (Stephanie) Shayna, Drew Covington, Michael Owens, Dede Lane (Jimmy) Farren Lane and Amber Emanuel, Suzie Goodwin (Stanley) Annsley, Aubrey, Ashton
Rodney Hyatt (Erin), Alexandra and TuckerByron Covington (Jaime) Dawson and Weston and numerous nieces and nephews .
