Carl P. McBride

Carl P. McBride of Los Angeles, California, died on Sunday November 22, 2015, at the Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, California.  He was born on December 15, 1960 in Dillon, South Carolina to the late David Nathaniel and Mattie (Donaldson) McBride.  While growing up, he attended the Mt. Hermon Church of God, where he obtained a substantial spiritual background.
After graduating from Dillon High School where he was a drummer for the marching Wildcats,  Carl attended St. Augustine College for several years.  He joined the United States Army and served his country honorably.  After leaving the military, Carl was employed by the Pepsi Cola Corporation of California for 25 years.  He was an Ordained Deacon at the Mt. Berean Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles where he was on the men’s choir and an avid student of the Word of God.
Carl was loved and admired by his family, neighbors, friends, church family, and all who came in contact with him.  He was known by many as “the gentle giant” and Mac.  He loved the Washington Redskins and had a man cave to prove it.
Carl is survived by his wife Latanya and 3 children: Travis, David, and Bridgette of California. He leaves to cherish his life and memories one brother, Larry (Esther) McBride of Dillon and two sisters: Lois (Leon) Bright of Dillon and Angela (Darryl) White of Virginia.
He was predeceased by brothers: David Ronald, John Albert, and Gary Leon McBride.  He also leaves two aunts, Evelyn McBride of Dillon, Dorothy Williams of Washington, DC. and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.  Funeral services will be held in Los Angeles, CA and a memorial service will be held in Dillon in December.
