Iris Allene Mobley

Dillon – Iris Allene Mobley, age 95, died at McLeod Hospice House on October 21, 2015. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date with internment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon, South Carolina. Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon, South Carolina is assisting the family. 

Allene was born February 13, 1920 in Nichols, South Carolina. She attended Kemper Elementary School and Lake View High School. She graduated from Draughn’s Business School in Columbia, South Carolina in 1937. On April 8, 1940, she married Cade Sherwood Mobley.

Allene lived in Dillon, South Carolina all of her adult life and worked as a legal secretary, and also as a business manager for Mobley Construction. She was a member of Dillon First Baptist Church and a member of Evergreen Garden Club. She will be especially remembered for her gardening skills and was known for her gift for flower arranging.

Allene was preceded in death by her husband, Cade Sherwood Mobley, who died November 11, 2004. Survivors include: Betty Sherwood Mobley Lee of Radford, Virginia; Frances Lynnette Moody and her husband William Berry Moody of Darlington, South Carolina; and Laura Anne Joseph of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
