Nolan Accepted Into South Carolina Governor’s School For Science & Mathematics

Haley Marie Nolan from Dillon County has been accepted to the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) in Hartsville. She joins students from across South Carolina to form the Class of 2017.
GSSM students moved onto campus in mid-August and classes started August 18. This year, the School celebrates its largest student body since its inception in 1988, with 277 students representing 120 high schools and 36 counties.
Haley Marie Nolan, daughter of Christina Knight and James Nolan, transferred to GSSM from Latta High School.
GSSM is a public, residential high school for academically talented juniors and seniors. It offers unique, college-level courses and a hands-on curriculum with a special focus on science, technology, engineering, math and research, along with concentrations in economics and entrepreneurship. One of 12 specialized science and math programs in the country, the School has been nationally recognized for its overall excellence, strong mix of intellectual challenges and dedicated teachers, as well as its rigorous mentored scientific and economic research program. The School leads the state with the top SAT and ACT scores, 1966 and 30.6, respectively, and 18 National Merit Semifinalists.
