Dixie Youth Roundup: Leagues Tied Up

By Lonnie Turner

Going into the final week at the Kiwanis/Michael Lecholop DYB baseball park, we have a tie for the lead in the Minor League between the ACE Hardware Tigers (11-3) and Burger King Braves (11-3) after the Braves stopped the Tigers, 7-5 on Friday. The two play each other again in Tuesday’s first of two games and the Tigers will take on the McLeod Health Marlins (2-12) in Thursday’s only Minor League game. The Braves will tangle with the Pepsi-Cola Blue Jays (4-10) in Friday’s Minor League finale!

In the Major League, the Dillon Internal Medicine’s 9-8 win over the Feed and Farm Store Rangers, coupled with the Yankees 4-1 victory over the Dillon Family Dental Giants, sets up a tie between the two teams with identical 5-1 records in the second half. The Giants won the first half and if the Hurricanes can win the second, the two teams will play a one-game playoff to determine the regular season champion. The two teams will play each other in Thursday’s single Major League game and the Giants will play the Rangers in Monday’s first game. The Hurricanes will take on the Dillon Meat Center Reds in Friday’s first Major League game.
