Vikings Defeat Creek Bridge in Double Header Action

The Latta Vikings earned wins over Creek Bridge in a double header at home on Tuesday night.

In game one, the Vikings earned a 14-0 win with Caleb Mishue giving up just two hits with one hit by pitch in the win while striking out eight in three innings. For the Warriors, Hughes pitched one and a third innings for three hits, two runs, two earned runs, two walks, and one out. Hucks pitched two-thirds of an inning for 12 hits, 12 runs, 12 earned runs, one walk, one out, and three home runs.

At bat for the Vikings, John K. Love went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and two runs scored; Jackson Williams went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI, and two runs scored; Caleb Mishue went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs; Austin Miller went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and one run; Cledus Williams went 2-for-2 with a double, one RBI, and one run; Aaren Hyatt went 1-for-1; Noah Moody went 1-for-1 with one RBI and one run; Brady Hatchell went 1-for-1 with one run and two stolen bases; Kevin Hargrove went 1-for-1 for a double with one run scored; Jonathan Ray scored one run with one stolen base; Eric McGirt scored one run with a walk; Deonte Stanley scored one run on a walk; and McLeod Carmichael picked up one RBI.
For the Warriors, Norman went 1-for-2 and Hucks went 1-for-1. Sumpter reached on a hit by pitch and stole one base.

In game two, Latta earned a 16-1 win in three innings with the Warriors scoring their only run in the top of the first. Latta scored all 16 runs in the bottom of the second inning for the win.

McLeod Carmichael got the win on the mound, pitching three innings for four hits, one run, and one earned run, striking out seven. For the Warriors, Hucks pitched 1.2 innings for seven hits, nine runs, nine earned runs, one wild pitch, and three walks. Norman pitched one third of an inning for three hits, seven runs, seven earned runs, one walk, and four hit by pitch.

At bat for the Vikings, John Malcolm George went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and one run; Cledus Williams went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and one run; Caleb Mishue went 2-for-2 with a stolen base, one RBI, and two runs; Daniel Khalil went 1-for-2 with a stolen base, one RBI, and two runs; Noah Moody went 1-for-2 with a double, one RBI, and two runs; McLeod Carmichael went 1-for-1 with a stolen base, one RBI, and one run; Deonte Stanley went 1-for-1 with a double, one RBI, and two runs; Jonathan Ray scored two runs with two stolen bases; Brady Hatchell picked up one RBI and scored one run on a walk; and Eric McGirt and Jackson Williams each scored one run.

For the Warriors, Norman went 1-for-2 with one run scored; Hughes went 1-for-1 with a double and one RBI; Simmons went 1-for-2 with a stolen base; and Taylor went 1-for-1.

Latta improved to 11-4-2 overall and 8-0 in Region 8-A for first place in the region.

The Vikings are scheduled to wrap up region play with a double header against Hemingway tonight at home at 5:30 p.m. On Monday, Latta will wrap regular season play with a 6:30 p.m. game at Hartsville. The Class A District Playoffs will begin next Thursday, April 30.
