Dillon Christian Warriors Take Tough Losses in Region Action

The Dillon Christian School Warriors returned from spring break action for some tough games and some tough losses.

On Thursday, April 9, the Warriors battled Emmanuel Baptist to a 9-9 tie after the game was called due to darkness.

The Crusaders took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but the Warriors picked up two runners each in the second and third innings to trail 7-4. Emmanuel picked up another runner in the bottom of the fourth, but the Warriors picked up five runners in the top of the fifth inning to take a 9-8 lead. The Crusaders tied things up with another run in the bottom, but neither team could score again before the game was called.

Thomas Evans pitched 4.1 innings for the Warriors for eight hits, three runs, and five outs. Nick Smith pitched 1.2 for one hit and one walk; Landry Collins pitched a third of an inning for two walks; and Jake Boykin pitched a third of an inning for one hit, six runs, four walks, one hit by pitch, and one out.

At bat for the Warriors, Isaac Hendrix went 2-for-5 with one run scored; Boykin went 2-for-5 with a double; Ross Carlyle went 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored; Ellison Rourke went 1-for-3 with one run; Nick Smith went 1-for-3 with one run; Connor Hamilton went 1-for-4 with two RBI; Thomas Evans added two runs; and Garrett Collins scored one run.

In the field, Landry Collins made seven assists and Garrett Collins and Smith each made five put outs.

On Friday, April 10, the Warriors fell 15-0 on the road at Pee Dee Academy. The Eagles picked up five runs in the bottom of the first, eight in the second, and two in the third for the win.

Timmy Felder got the win on the mound, giving up one hit and one walk and striking out seven in the three inning game. Landry Collins took the loss, pitching 1.1 innings for four hits, 13 runs, one earned run, three walks, and one out. Nick Smith pitched 1.1 innings for two runs, one earned run, and two walks.

Jake Boykin got the only hit for the Warriors at bat. Reagan Fowler led the Eagles, going 3-for-3 with three RBI.

On Monday, April 13, the Warriors were back at home to host the Carolina Academy Bobcats for a 7-3 loss.

Carolina scored two runs in the top of the third and added two more in the fourth for a 4-0 lead. The Warriors got on the board with one run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Bobcats picked up three more runners in the sixth for a 7-1 lead. The Warriors scored two more runners in the bottom of the inning, but the Bobcats retained the win at 7-3.

Thomas Evans took the loss for the Warriors, pitching 3.1 innings for six hits, five runs, one earned run, two walks,a nd three outs. Connor Hamilton itched 3.1 innings for the Warriors, giving up four hits, three runs, and one earned run, and striking out one.

The Warriors had five hits, with Landry Collins and Boykin each going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Hendrix went 1-for-3; Hamilton went 1-for-2 with one run; and Jesse Miller went 1-for-2.

On Tuesday, the Warriors traveled to Florence Christian for a 15-0 shut out, and on Friday, the Warriors wrapped the week with a 3-0 loss to Marlboro Academy.

Dillon Christian is now 3-6-3 overall. The Warriors will wrap up their regular season tonight at home when they will host Pee Dee Academy at 5:00 p.m.
