The Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors hosted Emmanuel Baptist Lady Crusaders on Thursday and came away with a 16-3 non-region, five-inning win before traveling to Tatum on Friday to fall 15-0 in a region matchup against the Lady Dragons of Marlboro Academy in four innings.

Against the Crusaders, the Lady Warriors posted 15 hits and allowed only two runners to base on errors with the game ball presented to Janie Altman. Altman, a petite seventh grader, was moved up for the game due to Varsity injuries and illness. Altman played third base for the Varsity Warriors, playing the position like a seasoned pro and making no errors. And if this wasn’t enough to impress the older varsity players, she also went 4-for-4 with one double, three RBI, and a stolen base. Many of the varsity players told her that they hoped that she could help them close out some of the remaining regular season games.

The Crusaders picked up their three runs in the top of the first inning with the Warriors evening the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the first. The Warriors moved out 7-3 at the end of two, holding this lead until the bottom of the fourth where they added nine runs for a 16-3 lead.

The Crusaders top of the lineup batting order all hit grounders to pitcher Jamie Carpenter who threw them out at first to end the game with a 13-run lead after five innings.

On the mound for the Warriors, Jamie Carpenter posted six strikeouts with two batters to base on walks and allowed three hits with three runs scored for the win.

On the mound for the Crusaders, Madison Hendrix had no strikeouts with six walks and allowed 11 hits with 11 runs scored in three and a half innings for the loss. Abby Clark closed for the Crusaders and posted no strikeouts with one walk, four hits, and five runs.

At bat for the Crusaders, Hunter Cassidy was 1-for-2; Chandler Morrel was 1-for-2; Rachael Raines was 1-for-3; and Adelaide Thomlinson had two RBI on an error.

At bat for the Warriors, Samantha Carpenter was 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, stealing second base and the rare home steal; Janie Altman was 4-for-4 with a double, three RBI, and a stolen base; Ansley Hamer was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI; Jamie Carpenter was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI; Erin Hamer was 1-for-1 with a triple and one RBI, also getting to base twice on walks; Emilie Martin was 1-for-3 with two RBI, also getting to base on an error; Myra Bracey had a fielder’s choice RBI; Madison King made it to base on two walks; and Madison Moody made it to base on a walk.

In addition to Altman’s perfect fielding, others noted for playing good defense were Jamie Carpenter on the mound, Samantha Carpenter at shortstop, Ansley Hamer in left field, and Madison King in center field.

The Warriors did not have a good day on Friday at Marlboro Academy, taking a 15-0 loss to the Lady Dragons.

Madison King picked up the Warriors’ lone hit in the game which was over in four innings. The Dragons posted 13 hits with three doubles. Jamie Carpenter took the loss for the Warriors on the mound with Janet Greene getting the win for the Dragons. Madison King and Ansley Hamer played top level for the Warriors in the outfield.

The Warriors are hosting Pee Dee Academy today with game time set for 5:00 p.m.
