The Dillon Christian School Warriors earned wins over Scotland Christian and tied with Trinity-Byrnes in SCISA baseball action last week.
On Tuesday, March 17, the Warriors hosted the Scotland Christian Academy Saints for a 17-7 win.
Scotland picked up one run in the top of the first but the Warriors scored three runners in the bottom of the inning and six in the second for a 9-1 lead. The Saints picked up six runners in the top of the fourth to close the gap to 9-7, but the Warriors added four runs in the bottom of the inning and four in the fifth for the 17-7 win.
Landry Collins got the win on the mound, pitching four innings for six hits, six runs, two earned runs, two walks, and one double, striking out eight, and Jake Boykin pitched one inning of relief, facing three batters and striking out one.
At bat for the Warriors, Boykin went 3-for-3 with a double, five RBI, two stolen bases, and one run scored; Connor Hamilton was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, three stolen bases, and four runs scored; Ross Carlyle was 1-for-1 with one RBI and three runs; Ellison Rourke went 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run; Jesse Miller went 1-for-2 with two RBI and three runs; Garrett Collins went 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run; Nick Smith picked up two runs with three stolen bases; and Collins added one run in the win.
In the field, Carlyle and Isaac Hendrix each made one assist and Hamilton made three put outs with Boykin and Thomas Evans each making one.
On Thursday, the Warriors hosted Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate and tied 8-8 after seven innings. The Titans scored two runs in the third and added one in the fifth for a 3-0 lead, but the Warriors picked up four in the bottom of the inning for a 4-3 lead. Dillon Christian added three runs in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead 7-3, but the Titans managed to add five in the top of the seventh to go 8-7. The Warriors mustered one run in the bottom of the inning to finish with the 8-8 tie.
Smith pitched 5.1 innings for two hits, three runs, six walks, and one double, striking out three. Boykin pitched 2.1 innings for two hits, five runs, two earned runs, six walks, and a triple, striking out one.
Evans went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs scored to lead the Warriors at bat. Collins went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run scored; Hendrix went 1-for-3 with one RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs; Rourke was 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base; Hamilton was 1-for-4 for one RBI; and Miller picked up one RBI.
In the field, Collins made three assists and Hamilton and Evans each made one. Rourke made six put outs, with Boykin making three and Evans making two. Collins and Smith each made one put out.
On Friday, the Warriors finished out the week with a 9-5 win over the Saints at Scotland Christian.
Scotland took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, and answered a run from the Warriors in the fifth with one of their own in the bottom of the inning to maintain a 2-1 lead. But Dillon Christian pulled ahead on five runs in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead. The Saints picked up three runners in the bottom of the inning, but the Warriors sealed the win with three runs in the seventh.
Evans picked up the win, pitching five innings and allowing two hits, two runs, and a double while striking out nine. Collins pitched two innings for two hits, three runs, one earned run, three walks, and a double, striking out five.
Carlyle led the Warriors at bat, going 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Boykin was 2-for-5 with one RBI and one run; Collins was 2-for-4 with one RBI; Evans was 2-for-4 for two RBI with a stolen base; Rourke was 2-for-3 with two runs and three stolen bases; Collins was 1-for-3; Hamilton was 1-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base, and two runs; Smith scored a run with a stolen base; and Miller picked up one RBI with one run scored.
In the field, Collins made three assists and Evans made two put outs, with Boykin, Collins, and Hamilton each made a put out.
The Warriors improved to 3-1-1 on the season as they prepared to travel to The King’s Academy on Monday night.
On Tuesday, the Warriors were scheduled to be back at home at Dillon Christian School to host Florence Christian. On Friday, Warriors will host Marlboro Academy in their last game before spring break. Game time for both is 5:00 p.m., so make plans to attend to support our local team!
