Lady Gators Fall to Bears

Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators wrapped up the regular season on Thursday night at Carvers Bay, falling 61-33 to the Lady Bears in girls varsity basketball action.

The Bears took a 16-13 lead in the first period and outscored Lake View 18-3 in the second and 25-7 in the third to take a commanding lead. The Lady Gators went 10-2 in the fourth quarter but Carvers Bay retained the win.

Desaree Green earned a game-high 19 points with 13 rebounds, four steals, and two blocks, and Taleaa Adams added 13 points in the win. Zaria Blain scored 10 points; Quantaisha Robinson, 7; Anatashia Bromell, 6; LaQuasha Coles, 4; and Jada Walker, 2. Coles also made eight assists for the Lady Bears, Robinson made six steals and three blocks, and Walker grabbed nine rebounds in the win.

Olivia McDaniel led the Lady Gators with 12 points and Na’Kedra Page scored 10. Jasmine Ford added 4 points; Kayla Page, 3; Hannah Miller, 2; Diayah Williams, 2; and Toni Nash, 1.

Lake View finished the regular season with an 8-9 record overall and a 2-8 record in Region 8-A.

Carvers Bay finished with a 15-2 record and a 9-1 record in region play to claim the region title. The Bears were scheduled to host C.E. Murray in the first round of the 2015 Class A girls basketball playoffs.
