Elizabeth “Betty” Chamblee Rogers

Elizabeth “Betty” Chamblee Rogers, age 84, entered into eternal rest on January 31, 2015.  She was born in Starr, SC, the daughter of the late Wilson Reaves and Minnie Bond Chamblee.  Betty was a graduate of Anderson Junior College and attended Winthrop University.  She was the devoted wife to her husband of 64 years, Harold C. Rogers, of Fork.  She was a case worker for the Department of Social Services and retired after a 33 year career.  Known to many as “Gorgeous Betty” and to her grandchildren as “Nonnie”, Betty was recognized for her caring of others and her always genuine positive attitude.  She was an accomplished gardener and delighted in seeing her plants grow to their fullest beauty.  Betty loved her flowers and will always be remembered for the magnificent roses she grew and contributed to everyone throughout the community.  She always looked forward to her weekly bridge club on Thursdays and never missed an opportunity to be with her fellow club members.  Betty was a member of Mullins Presbyterian Church and loved her Heavenly Father.  She was an inspiration to all and was a true woman of Christian Faith.  Her most obvious pleasure was the enjoyment she experienced through her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by daughters, Anna Elizabeth “Betsy” Artley of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Harriett R. (Edwin) Stephens and Marcia R. Mincey of Mullins, a son, Harold C. “Michael” Rogers, Jr. of Fork; and a brother, Henry Dwain Chamblee of Starr, SC.  “Nonnie” will always be loved and greatly missed by her five grandchildren, Tristan Artley, Boston, MA, Margaret Stephens, Sumter, Ed Stephens, Newport, RI, Kensley Mincey, Columbia, and LeeAnn Rogers, Fork.
Visitation was from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the family home in Fork. Graveside services were held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 2, 2015 at Hopewell Cemetery in Fork directed by Meares Funeral Home of Mullins.
