Robert Franklin Pittman, Sr., age 86, died Monday, January 19, 2014 at his residence. Born in Dillon County, SC, he was a son of the late N.A. Pittman and Blanche Cottingham Pittman. Robert was a member of Garden City Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Pittman.
Survivors include a son, Frank Pittman of Easley, SC; 4 daughters, Bobbie Jean Sessions of Garden City, SC, Bonnie Ford of Surfside Beach, SC, Becky Clemmons of Marion, SC and Melissa Coley of Iowa; 2 sisters, Helen Campbell of Marion and Jean Tyndall of Martinsville, VA; a brother, A.D. Pittman of Raleigh, NC; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and in addition, special friends Alan and Wanda Cooper.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Garden City Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Teems and Reverend Fran Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
