Lake View’s Rogers Named All-State

Lake View’s Ashley Rogers finished eighth overall in the Class A-AA State Championship golf tournament at Black Bear Golf Course on Tuesday, October 21.

Ashley Rogers (in back) with the Aynor Blue Jackets. Rogers traveled with Aynor this season, competing as an individual golfer in girls varsity golf. The Aynor team includes Bailey Richardson, Mary Kate Richardson, Rachael Wilkinson, Haley Hardee, and Taylor Hughes.

Rogers earned a total of 168 at the course as she finished out the season of girls varsity golf as an individual competitor. Rogers shot an 85 and an 83 in her two days on the 5,380-yard course. The eighth place finish earned Rogers All-State honors.

Academic Magnet’s Annika Bovender won the individual state title and All-State honors, shooting a 71 on both days for a score of 142.

Also earning All-State honors were Kathleen Sumner and Emma Wofford of Bishop England; Carly Lyvers and Mattie Dew of St. Joseph’s; Samantha Melton, Amber Winburn, and Sarah Dutton of McBee; Peyton Gillespie of Christ Church, and Kelly Kaz of Waccamaw.
